A single needle cover stitch comprises a needle thread 13 having needle loops 12, a looper thread 14 disposed below the fabric interlocked with the needle loops which pass through the fabric and a cover thread 16 which extends over the edge of the fabric and is interlocked with the needle thread above the fabric and with the loops of the looper thread below the fabric.
