Abstract

1,205,439. Stranding machine. N. V. TOUWSLAGERIJ V. H. GEBR. MUDDE. 8 Sept., 1967 [8 Sept., 1966], No. 41160/67. Heading D1T. Rope is made by twisting individual yarns drawn from stationary bobbins 1, 2 and 3 in loops 7, 8 and 9 which pass around stationary supply packages, plying the twisted strands so formed and by causing the twisted strands to rotate in an outer loop 14 around the strand loops. Each strand loop and the outer loop is rotated at both ends. Preferably the axes of the flyers for the strand loops 7, 8 and 9 lie on the surface of a cylinder whose axis is coincident with the axis of the flyers for the outer loop 14. The loops may be rotated in the same or opposite direction at the same or different speeds. The rope composition may be varied by altering the speed of rollers 17, 18 relative to that of the loops. The yarn packages 1, 2 and 3 may be unwound overend. The formed rope, e.g. of polyamide strands, can be heated in oil bath 19.
