Abstract

120,519. Franc, J. M. E. May 14, 1918. Sparking - plugs. - The abutting surfaces of the inner ends of the casing and porcelain are formed as stepped cones between which is clamped one or more sheet metal cones l. Sparking-points l<1> may project from the cone 1, or may be formed on a separate ring spun over into an annular recess in the outer end of the insulator. The outer end of the porcelain insulator may be recessed to receive a smaller insulator, the abutting surfaces being of stepped-cone formation with the interposition of a metal cone having sparking- terminals projecting thereirom. The outer portion of the insulation is in the form of a cap, covering the inner portion and pressing against a washer on the end of the casing.
