Abstract

1,204,558. Inspecting track alignment. CANRON Ltd.-CANRON LIMITEE. 20 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967], No. 60787/68. Heading B7N. In an arrangement for observing and/or recording the vertical and horizontal alignment of a railway track, a subframe 15, supported on rollers 16 which are urged into engagement with the track, carries a vertical and horizontal scale associated with each rail and an optical system whereby the position of each rail with reference to a datum line may be observed on a screen. The datum lines may be provided by lines 15, 14a extending respectively parallel to each rail between the ends of a wheel-supported, elongated frame 10 from which subframe 15 is independently supported and the disposition of the lines relative to the scales 20, 21 and 26, 27 can be observed in mirror 38. The mirror may be replaced by a television camera and the result recorded or displayed on a television screen on a vehicle 18 which taws the frames or remotely. The datum lines may be replaced by a single line or by a hairline inscribed on the camera optical system. Additionally, rail gauge measuring means are provided.
