Abstract

575,595. Sight - testing apparatus. GLAZER, W. H. March 29, 1944, No. 5814. [Class 97 (i)] In an apparatus for testing eyes comprising a frame for supporting transparent discs and having means for moving the discs vertically or horizontally, the discs are provided with scales having mutually perpendicular lines coinciding with the principal diameters and a plurality of dividing lines parallel to one of said principal diameters for determining the relative position of the centre of each eye. As shown, discs A and B having five lines 14 at 2 mm. interval on either side of the principal diameter 12 are supported in a trial frame C in which they may be rotated or moved vertically or horizontally. By setting the lines vertically the interpupillary distances may be obtained, or with the lines horizontal any difference in the height of the pupils may be measured. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), an opaque bar on the scale is used to find the position of the centre of the reading portion of a bifocal lens.
