Abstract
1,204,344. Pressure chambers. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 6 Oct., 1967 [12 Oct., 1966], No. 45798/67. Heading F4B. A plant for performing hot isostatic compaction processes comprises a pressure chamber 1 having a wall 2 capable of confining an inert gas under pressure, a cylindrical elongated furnace chamber 14 surrounded by a thermally-insulating sheath within said pressure chamber, heating elements 15, 16, 17 arranged in said furnace chamber, said thermally-insulating sheath comprising at least one thermallyinsulating cell 20 enclosed in a casing of material 13 substantially impermeable to gas, and a space (not shown) between the said sheath and the wall 2, said cell or cells 20 communicating with the furnace chamber 14 only through. pressure equalizing opening means in the upper part 26 of the cell casing and/or with said space only through opening means in the lower part 27 of the cell casing. The cell casing is usually of sheet metal and the cell is filled with packed thermally-insulating material in fibrous form. In other embodiments instead of the sheath being formed from a single cell 20, several cells with interconnecting pressure equalization openings can be used.
