Abstract

1,204,341. Inflatable escape shoots. RFD-GQ Ltd. 2 April, 1968 [17 April, 1967], No. 17534/67. Heading B7J. An inflatable escape shoot comprises side tubes 10, 11, centre tube 12, end transverse tubes 13, 14 and centre transverse tube 17, the side tubes being divided internally by transverse baffles into lengths 10a, 10b, 11a, 11b, the tubes 12, 13, 17 and tube lengths 10a, 11a being interconnected and adapted to be inflated via aspirators 26, 27 from a first compressed gas cylinder, and tube 14 and tube lengths 10b, 11b being interconnected for inflation via aspirators 33, 34 from a second compressed gas cylinder, there being a flexible strip of material 21 extending between the side tubes to form a pair of slideways 21a, 21b. The strip 21 may be replaced by two strips, each extending between a side tube and the centre tube. In use the shoot is connected to an aircraft doorway by means of apron 15 and either the first or both gas cylinders used for inflation depending on whether the height of the doorway above the ground is small or large. The gas cylinders are carried in pockets on the underside of the shoot and are operated automatically. The side tubes 10, 11 may be divided into more than two lengths.
