Abstract
1,204,015. Skid rails. KOPPERS-WISTRAOFENBAU G.m.b.H. 24 Sept., 1968 [30 Sept., 1967], No. 45374/68. Heading F4B. A metallic skid rail 2, for use in a pusher furnace, is loosely mounted on an insulated watercooled bearer tube 1. Lateral lugs 3 welded to the tube 1 prevent lateral displacement of the skid rail 2, whilst dogs 4 welded across the top of the tube 1 and passing through recesses in the skid rail, prevent its longitudinal displacement. The skid rail may be of inverted channel section, with limbs 10 straddling a guide rib 7 welded to the tube 1. Loose fitting cottered bolts 9, secured to further lugs welded to the tube 1, and extending through bores in the limbs of the skid rail, prevent the rail from being lifted off from the tube 1. The rail may be formed with dovetailed recesses (not shown) in its base so that it rests on the tube 1 through a plurality of feet, and not over its whole length. The skid rail may be of a one or a two part construction. In the latter case, Fig. 4, the skid rail parts 2a, 2b are formed with complementary castellations to prevent their relative displacement. Dependent lugs 12 on the parts 2a straddle the parts 2b and are secured thereto by bolts 13. Ribs 15 may be formed on the rail to extend out over the adjacent refractory insulation 11.
