Abstract
1,203,928. Hot blast stoves; air preheaters. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN N.V. 16 May, 1969 [7 June, 1968], No. 25100/69. Heading F4K. In gas heated hot blast stoves, the flame temperature at or very shortly after commencing heating up is chosen so much higher than the air temperature when leaving the blast stove, or the dome temperature in the hot blast stove at the end of the preceding air blast period, as to correspond to 10 to 40% of the temperature difference between the maximum admissible flame temperature and the said air or dome temperature, and is increased, either gradually or in steps, until the maximum admissible flame temperature is reached. The stated objects of such control are to overcome heat expansions in the apparatus and to curtail the large temperature ranges inherent in hot gas stoves. A 'formula for determining the various flame temperatures over the heating-up period is given.
