Abstract
1,203,415. Shoe mould. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. 1 Nov., 1967 [3 Nov., 1966], No. 49248/66. Heading B5A. In a mould assembly, for the injection moulding of a shoe bottom unit, e.g. of polyvinyl chloride, on to a lasted upper unit, having a one piece sole mould 10 provided with a cavity 11, defining the tread and side edge surfaces of the shoe bottom unit to be moulded, and an injection aperture 16 which, in the case of a heel-less shoe (not shown), may alternatively be at the extreme heel end of the cavity, the mould 10 is supported in a mould box (not shown) and also upon projections 22 of a pair of side supporting members 24 which are laterable separable between a closed position, wherein respective opposed grooves 36, 38 of a pair of blocks 28, 30 define a material supply passage 40 between an injection machine nozzle and a mould conduit (17), Fig. 2 (not shown), supplying the aperture 16, and an open position where the exposed sprue may be grasped to pull the sprue from the mould 10. The supporting members 24 may be actuated by similar mechanism to that actuating the side moulds of Specification 949,361. The passage 40 may be straight, or curved to accommodate a vertically disposed mould assembly with a horizontal injection device. Welt plates 26 may be attached to the sole mould 10 or may be relatively slidable thereto, as in Specification 1,169,531, mounted on the supporting members 24.
