Abstract

1,203,192. Watches. UNITED STATES TIME CORP. Feb.12, 1969 [Feb.29, 1968], No.4289/69. Heading G3T. A waterproof watch comprises a crown 1 having a cavity within which an annular elastic gasket 6 is compressed between the crown and the pendant 8 and is retained by an annular hard washer 7 which limits sidewise motion of the crown, and is such that C R #<SP>I</SP>/ 2R where C R is the clearance between the washer inner surface and the pendant outer surface and I R is the interference between pendant outer surface and the gasket inner surface, when the gasket is assembled in the crown body and before it is compressed as in the assembly illustrated in Fig.1. Alternatively when the gasket is bent as is the gasket 13 Fig. 3, C R #C GC where C GC is the radial clearance between the flat gasket gasket 13 and the crown, when the pendant is in position in the crown. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,122,140.
