Abstract

1,203,000. Dispensing sheet material. GEORGIA PACIFIC CORP. 3 Sept., 1968 [14 Sept., 1967], No. 41865/68. Heading A4G. [Also in Division F2] A dispenser for a roll 44 of flexible sheet material, e.g. toilet paper, comprises a framework 20 including arcuate bearing surfaces 68, 70 for rotatably supporting trunnions 50, 52 of axially aligned, seperable core sections such as 56, 58 or 46, 48, frictionally engaged by said roll 44. Surfaces 68, 70 normally urge trunnions 50, 52 axially and downwardly so that when the roll 44 is substantially exhausted, the lower abutting edges of core sections 56, 58 pivot downwardly and outwardly away from each other and lips 72, 74 of surfaces 68, 70 are received in trunnions recesses 76, 78. Then the upper abutting edges separate and the core sections and trunnions fall down out of the dispensing opening 17 (Fig. 6, not shown). The framework includes vertical guide channels 36, 38 of different widths for trunnions 50, 52 of different diameters. A housing 12 is pivotally connected to the framework (at 32, 34) and is releasably locked thereto by a spring arm 82 engaging a flange 84, or by key-operated means. A leaf spring 80 brakes the roll 44. When core sections 56, 58 are discharged, a second roll 44 thereabove in channels 36, 38 drops down on to surfaces 68, 70.
