A paper towel &c. dispenser has a casing 1, hinged lid 2 and a longitudinal outlet slot 9 through which paper from a roll 8 is led, a downwardly projecting cutting edge 11 being provided in front of the slot. The lid has trunnions 3 which engage bearing holes 4 in the casing.
