Abstract

1,202,333. Protective arrangements. CRATER CONTROLS Ltd. 17 April, 1969 [11 June, 19681, No. 27744/68. Heading H2K. A protective arrangement for a load 5, e.g. a radio set, a television set, a motor, an electric blanket, a lighting arrangement or a heating system, supplied from an A.C. supply 1 through a half-wave rectifying device e.g. a thyristor or a diode 4, comprises a fuse 3 connected in series with the device 4 and a half-wave rectifier 6 connected across the load 5 with its polarity opposed to that of the device 4. Should the device 4 break down and pass alternating current, the current which would then flow through the rectifier 6 assists in blowing the fuse 3. A current limiting resistor 2 may be provided, connected as shown or directly in series with the rectifier 6, Fig. 2 (not shown).
