Abstract
1,201,763. 763. Fluid oscillators. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 15, 1967 [Aug. 18, 1966J, No.37034/66. Heading G3H. A fluid pressure oscillator generates pulses in response to the vibration of a cantiliver leaf spring 18 and at a frequency corresponding to the resonant frequency of the spring assembly. A mass 17 Fig. 1 carried at the free end of the spring has blades 15, 16 which alternatively block jets 13, 14 fed by a constant pressure supply 10. The resultant build up of pressure behind the blocked jet 13 produces a pulse in the associated output line 23 and also in pulses the spring via jet 21 to move it into a position to block jet 14 whereupon the cycle is repeated. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a similar arrangement in which jets (25, 27) alternately feed receivers (26, 28) which are connected to the output lines and spring impulsing jets. In another embodiment Fig. 3 the spring is impulsed by jet 34 impinging on shoe 33, and the output pulses are generated in a single outlet 38 in response to movement of blade 35 relative to jet 36. In a further embodiment Fig.4 (not shown) the arrangement of Fig.3 is modified by dispensing with shoe 33 and impulsing the spring by fluid which issues from the vertical limb of an L shaped bore (39) in mass 17 when the horizontal limb of the bore is aligned with an input jet (40).
