1,201,438. Shaft-couplings; seals. B.R.D. CO. Ltd. 24 Jan., 1969 [24 Feb., 1968], No. 9065/68. Headings F2B and F2U. A shaft 11 and sleeve 10 joined by mating splines 12, 13 have at each end of the splines a seal 27, 31 arranged so that the sum of the volumes 33, 34 (e.g. for lubricant) between the shaft 11, sleeve 12 and the seals 27, 31 at each end of the splines is constant. The above with Hookes joints 17, 21 may form part of a lorry propeller shaft.
