A fuse base for receiving a fuse plug has a bottom bar contact 2 and a threaded ring contact 4 mounted in a cavity in the base which is divided into two parts 1A and 1B along a plane or in a step like manner through, parallel to or oblique to the symmetric axis of the device, the two parts 1A and 1B being adapted to be fastened together e.g. by rivets 6, to fix the bottom bar 2 and ring contact 4 into position. Connections are made to the contacts 2 and 4 by means of clamps 3 and 5. The base may be screwed to a mounting via holes 17.
