Abstract
1,200,988. Sewing. ELITEX, ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI, GENERALNI REDITELSTVI. 5 June, 1968 [7 June, 1967], No. 26682/68. Heading D1G. In a two needle sewing machine bottom thread loops are prevented by applying a brake to the shuttle when the corresponding needle is taken out of action during the working of a corner piece. A Bowden cable operated lever has a pivot on which is mounted pivoted lever 31 with a brake shoe 33: as the pivot point moves towards the shuttle during operation one arm of the lever 31 strikes an abutment 34 thus operating the brake. A return spring 35 is provided. To prevent thread breakage in the inoperative shuttle as the operative needle moves beyond the point at which the other needle is taken out of action and into the extreme corner of the work piece the thread leaves the shuttle through a moveable segment 11 which can be moved by the thread 9 against a spring 17. When the operative needle again returns, after the corner is turned to the appropriate point adjacent the inoperative needle the spring 17 pulls back the thread 9 by the segment 11 and the inoperative needle is restarted.
