Abstract

1296105 Lock and chain-stitch sewing machines BROTHER KOGYO KK 22 May 1970 [23 May 1969 26 Feb 1970] 24914/70 Heading DIG The sewing machine of Specification 1296104 is modified in that a thread hold up member 101 is provided to reduce the amount of yarn released when the yarn take up lever descends. As shown the member 101 is spring urged upwardly to a position above the lowest point of the yarn take up lever. The member is operative during lock stitching but when the throat plates are exchanged the chain stitching throat plate has a downwardly depending extension which causes, through an operating mechanism, the yarn seizing member to take up an inoperative position below the lowest point of the yarn take up lever. A modification of the member 101 is shown in Fig. 23 where the bent end of arm 99 is replaced by a loop of bent wire.
