Abstract
1,200,423. Steel. SOC. ANON DES FORGES ET AGERIES DU SAUT-DU-TARN. May 9, 1968 [May 22, 1967], No.22062/68. Heading C7A. A high strength steel, which is especially suitable for chromizing, comprises:- C 0À05-0À2% Al 0À1-0À3% Cr 0À5-2% Mn 1-1À5% Mo 0À4-2% Si 0À2-1% Ti 0À15-0À5% V 0À2-1% with optional Ni and/or Co 0À1-1À5% in total additions of Cu 0À05-0À75%, the balance being iron. The steel may be quenched in oil from 1000‹ C. and tempered at 100-600‹ C. and may be cold worked even after chromizing which is carried out by heating the steel in contact with a chromium halide for 2-20 hours at 900-1100‹ C.
