Abstract
1,179,046. Cast steel. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. June 5, 1967 [June 11, 1966], No.25934/67. Heading C7A. A cast steel, with high strength and toughness, comprises:- C less than 0.25% Si less than 1% Mn less than 3% Cr 5-20% Co 1-8% one or{ <SP>Mo</SP>}0.5-7%<SP> </SP>in total Cu 0 to less than 4% Ni 0 to less than 8%, the balance being Fe and has been cooled at a rate of 1‹C. /min. or less, either after casting or after cooling to below the austenitizing temperature and then austenitizing (e.g. at 800-1000‹C.). The steel may be aged at 450-700‹C. Propellers may be made from the steel according to the invention in one piece or separate pieces may be joined by welding, when the separate pieces may be annealed at 630-700‹C. before or after welding. The welded body may also be austenitized at 800-1000‹C., followed by cooling at a rate of 1‹C/min. or less to room temperature, followed, if desired, by ageing at 450-700‹C.
