Abstract

1,200,218. Builder motion. N. SCHLUMBERGER & CIE. 1 Dec., 1967 [9 Dec., 1966], No. 54821/67. Heading DID. A builder device for a ring frame or the like provides a fixed traverse, a gain motion and movement of the rail to wind under and overwindings. The device comprises: a first differential having a planet wheel 49 rotatable on a shaft 31 satellites 73, 71 interconnected to 49 by an idler 74 and a second planet wheel 43 the satellite carrier being a star shaped member 47 keyed to shaft 31 and a second differential having a planet wheel 41, 42 satellites 64, 66 a second planet wheel 45, 46, the satellite carrier being the wheel 43 which forms the second planet wheel of the first differential. A cam and rocking lever arrangement 116, 115, 108 reciprocates a chain 106, which wraps onto the star shaped member 47. This rocking motion is normally transmitted to wheel 45, 46 which reciprocates a chain 101 to raise and lower the ring rails 2. To provide the gain at each traverse wheel 49 is fast with a ratchet wheel 48 engagable by a pawl 78 on star member 47 and a pawl 81 on a lever 53 rockable about shaft 31. During most of the normal build lever 53 pivots with ratchet 48 but as the rail approaches the top of its upstroke lever 53 strikes a stop 85 and the ratchet is driven by pawl 81, the pawl 78 passing over a number of teeth, the number determining the gain. The stop 85 is adjustable so that the gain may be adjusted. Overwindings and underwindings. Wheel 41, 42 is held stationary during normal winding by a chain 95 passing thereabout and about the sprocket of a stationary motor 98. However when the ring rail reaches the topmost built position (A) see Fig. 5 not shown, a contact 121 which moves with the rod 12 transmitting drive to the ring rails operates a switch to activate a control circuit. When the rails reaches position (B) i.e. the bobbin shoulder, switch 122 is operated to start motor 98 and disengage clutch 119 through which drive to the building cam is transmitted. When the rails reach the overwinding position (c) switch 123 is actuated to stop motor 118 and activate a time delay relay to allow the top winding to be made. When the winding is completed the relay starts motor 98 to lower the rails. During the descent switch 124 is actuated to stop the drive to the spindles. Then switch 125 is actuated to cause the spindles to be braked for a given time. Finally switch 126 stops motor 98 to stop the rails in the underwinding position F, the spindle braking being such that the desired underwinding is made on the spindles before they come to rest.
