Abstract
1287107 Building motions NIHON SPINDLE SEIZO KK 14 Aug 1969 [14 Aug 1968] 40752/69 Heading DID [Also in Division H2] A building motion for a ring spinning machine is controlled by generating pulses (at 1) at rates related to the speed at which thread is supplied to the cop being wound, feeding pulses in a sequence of predetermined rates to a motor 2 driving a ring rail along the cop, counting the pulses during each traverse of the ring rail and terminating the traverse when a predetermined number of pulses has been counted and reversing the ring rail at the end of each traverse. As shown, pulses are photoelectrically generated at 1 by a device connected to the front rollers of the machine. These pulses are fed either directly, or via frequency converter 10, to the motor controlling the drive to the ring rail. The motor, and hence the direction of travel of the ring rail, is reversed by contacts M1, M2 and M3 acting on switches K1, K2. The contacts Ml M2 M3 and M4 are operated by a motor driven control rod 53 which reciprocates in unison with the ring rail. This control rod 53 also controls the fluid flow to the piston 37 causing reciprocation of the ring rail. The control rod 53 slides the contacts along during part of its traverse thereby adjusting the position of the traverse. At the start of winding the motor 2 is rotated at high speed by pulses from generator 9 to cause rapid reciprocation of the ring rail. Reversal of the ring rail is caused by the reciprocating control rod 53 alternately engaging contacts M2 and M3. After a preset number of reciprocations has been counted in C2, contact M2 is rendered inoperative so that the ring rail is now reversed by contacts M1 and M3. During the building motion the ring rail is reversed by contacts M1 and M3. As the control rod 53 rises during each reciprocation in unison with the ring rail and engages contact M1, it thereby starts counter C1. After a preset number of pulses from generator 1 have been counted, the counter Cl causes the ring rail to fall. During the pulse counting period of counter C1 the control rod 53 (and hence the ring rail) has continued to rise sliding contacts M1, M2 and M3 with it, thereby adjusting the position of the traverse of the ring rail. At the end of winding a yardage counter causes a high speed descent of the ring rail and control rod 53 and causes the lower reversing contact M3 to be inoperative. The control rod 53 therefore continues to descend (sliding contacts M1, M2 and M3 with it) until it meets contact M4. The latter contact causes the ring rail to remain stationary for a while to wind a transfer tail below the package and then a timer allows the ring rail to rise to the doffing/ start position.
