Abstract

1,200,067. Hand trucks. H. C. SLINGSBY Ltd., and G. SLINGSBY. 18 Dec., 1968 [20 Dec., 1967], No. 57766/67. Heading B7B. [Also in Divisions E1-2] A light hand truck having open work sides with tubular main members, push handles at each end and wheels, at least some of which are of castor type, has the top half of one side formed as a gate which is held in its closed position by a device (see Division E2) comprising a cylindrical member 3 slidable and rotatable on the gate post 2 and having a lug 8 which abuts the gate 1 when a notch 5 on the member engages over a projection 6 on the gatepost 2. A second notch 5 is provided which co-operates with the projection 6 (Fig. 4, not shown) when the lug has been swung away from the gate to allow it to open. A lug 9 fixed to the gate 1 abuts the gatepost 2 to prevent the gate swinging in beyond the gatepost. The gate may be hinged vertically instead of horizontally as shown.
