963,615. Road barriers. R. GEFFROY. July 30, 1962 [Aug. 2, 1961], No. 29101/62. Heading E1G. A retractable road barrier comprises a chain C fixed at one end 15 to a post B and engaging at the other end a sprocket wheel 7 housed in a post A, the wheel being rotatable in either direction to raise or lower the chain by means such as a hand crank 6. The wheel can be locked in position by engagement of a bolt (not shown) in the teeth of a disc 9 mounted on the same shaft as the wheel 7.
