Abstract

1,199,477. Producing faced corrugated paper. WERNER H. K. PETERS MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. 21 Sept., 1967, No. 43029/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division D1] A machine for producing corrugated paper 17 having a facing sheet 16 adhered to one side thereof comprises two corrugating rolls 2 and 3; roll 3 being driven and roll 2 being bent so that it presents a convex surface facing roll 3, and means for urging roll 2 towards roll 3 so that roll 2 will be deformed by the forces acting between the two rolls, this deformation of the original convex surface of roll 2 being such that the pressure exerted between the two rolls will be constant along the length of the rolls. The bending of roll 2 may be pneumatically, hydraulically or mechanically effected. As shown, roll 2 has two journals 27, each of which is acted on by two piston-and-cylinder units 11, 12 to effect bending of the roll. The diameter of roll 2 may increase towards its centre. Means 43-45 are provided for applying adhesive to the corrugated paper and the facing sheet 16 is then applied by pressure roll 4. Roll 4 may also be bent, so as to present a convex surface to roll 3, either by means similar to those acting on roll 2 or, as shown, by a short, centrally located roll 8 which may be pressed against roll 4 by rams 14.
