Abstract
1,198,970. Gelled fuel. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 30 April, 1969 [1 May, 1968], No. 22029/69. Heading C5G. A gelled fuel comprises by weight. 75-95% of a petroleum distillate fuel of b.p. 250-750 F. and 5-25% of a copolymer of ethylene and ethyl aerylate, or ethylene and vinylacetate, or a mixture thereof, the ethylene content of the copolymers being 75-85% by wt. and the ester content 15-25% by wt. The fuel may be a turbo-jet fuel or aviation kerosene. A dispersion of the copolymer in the fuel may be formed at 110-150 F. and the dispersion cooled to below 100 F. The copolymers should be solid at 25 C. and have a melt index of at least 1. In an Example 10% by wt. of powdered ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymer containing 19À5% ethylacrylate was added to JP4 jet fuel.
