Abstract

1,198,588. Control of D.C. motors. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 29 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 56878/68. Heading H2J. [Also in Division H3] A load, in the form of an electric motor 7, is supplied with pulsating direct-current through a main thyristor 1 which is shunted by an extinguishing thyristor 2 and a capacitor 4. The capacitor is charged partly from the constantvoltage direct-current source U and partly from a separate auxiliary source including a capacitor 6c chargeable by a transformer 6a and rectifier 6b. Ignition of an auxiliary thyristor 3 causes an oscillatory interchange between the capacitor 4 and an inductance 5 through the capacitor 6c whereby the capacitor 4 reverses its charge to a voltage which is higher than that of the source U by an amount corresponding to substantially twice the voltage across the capacitor 6c.
