Polymeric compositions suitable for extrusion to produce articles having a pimpled matt finish comprise a mixture of two polymers A and B, in which polymer A is either (1) a polymer of methyl methaorylate with 0 to 15% of the weight of the polymer A of a monoethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable compound and has a reduced viscosity (as defined) of 0À4 to 0À55 or (2) a polymer of methyl methacrylate with 0 to 6% of the weight of the polymer A of a monoethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable compound and has a reduced viscosity of 0À60 to 1À2, and polymer B is either (1) a polymer of methyl methacrylate with 0 to 15% by weight of polymer B of a monoethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable compound and has a reduced viscosity at least three times the reduced viscosity of polymer A and of a value that is at least 1À6, or (2) a copolymer of methyl methacrylate with 0 to 15% by weight of polymer B of a mono-ethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable compound and 0À2 to 5À0% by weight of polymer B of a copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated compound containing at least two CH 2 = C< groups per molecule, and in which the mixture of A and B contains from 2 to 40% by weight of polymer B by weight of the mixture. Monoethylenically unsaturated comonomers specified include alkyl acrylates and methacrylates, acrylic acid and methacrylic acid and their nitriles and amides, styrene and halo- and alkyl-derivatives thereof. Suitable comonomers having at least two CH 2 =C< groups include dimethacrylate esters, divinyl benzene, vinyl methacrylate, allyl methacrylate, allyl acrylate, methallyl acrylate, diallyl phthalate and diallyl maleate. Polymers A and B are both preferably used in bead form. Articles such as sheets, tubes and light fittings can be produced from the compositions.
