[Also in Division H1] A polymeric composition comprises a polyester-polyurethane (from diphenylmethane diisocyanate, adipic acid, and butane diol) and/or a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile (80/20), together with a tertiary aminecontaining polymer or copolymer. Examples of amino monomers are vinyl pyridines, imidazoles, and alkylamino acrylates, methacrylates, and vinyl ethers. Examples of comonomers are acrylates, methacrylates, and styrene. The preparation of copolymers of 2-methyl-5- vinylpyridine with methyl methacrylate or methyl acrylate using αα<SP>1</SP>-azodiisobutyronitrile as catalyst is described.
