Abstract

1387604 Films or fibres of acrylonitrile copolymer/polyvinylpyrrolidone blends BAYER AG 1 June 1972 [5 June 1971] 25591/72 Heading C3P The invention comprises films and fibres made from a polymer blend of (A) 95-70 parts by wt. of a copolymer of acrylonitrile with 35-60% by wt. of vinylidene chloride and/or vinyl chloride and/or vinyl bromide and (B) 5-30 parts by wt. of a homopoly(N-vinylpyrrolidone), the total of (A) and (B) being 100 parts by wt. Polymer (A) may also contain 0À2-4% by wt. of a dye receptive monomer such as styrene sulphonic acid, methallyl sulphonic acid, (meth)- acryloyl(dimethyl)taurine, methacryloyl aminobenzenebenze disulphonimide and vinyl pyridine. The films and fibres are formed by drawing down or casting or spinning from solutions of the blend in solvents such as dimethyl formamide, dimethylacetamide, ethylene carbonate, gamma - butyrolactone, dimethylsulphoxide, hexamethyl phosphonic acid triamide, acetone, cyclohexanone and T.H.F. The K-value of the polyvinylpyrrolidone is preferably 20-90.
