Abstract

1386993 Films and fibres of acrylonitrile polymer compositions FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 1 June 1972 [5 June 1971] 25592/72 Heading C3P Films, filaments or fibres comprise a blend of 95-60 parts by wt. of a copolymer of acrylonitrile with 35-60 wt. per cent of vinylidene chloride and/or vinyl chloride and/or vinyl bromide and from 5-40 parts by wt. of a copolymer or graft copolymer of N-vinyl pyrrolidone having at least 15% wt of N-vinyl pyrrolidone units, the sum of the parts by weight of the two copolymers being 100. The acrylonitrile polymer may also contain 0À2-4 wt. per cent of a dye-receptive copolymerized vinyl compound having one or more acidic or basic groups such as styrene sulphonic acid, methallyl sulphonic acid, (meth)acryloyl(dimethyl)taurine, methacryloyl amino benzene-benzene sulphonic acid, vinyl pyridine or (meth)acryloyl dialkyl amino ethanol ester and some of these are used in the examples. The invention also comprises a spinning solution comprising a solution of the polymer blend in a solvent such as dimethyl formamide, dimethyl acetamide, ethylene carbonate, gamma butyrolactone, dimethyl sulphoxide and hexamethyl phosphoric acid triamide. In the examples copolymers of N-vinyl pyrrolidone with methyl acrylate, vinyl acetate or acrylonitrile are used, together with dimethyl formamide as a solvent.
