Abstract

1,195,689. Semi-conductor switching circuits. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 24 Oct., 1967 [15 Nov., 1966], No. 51140/66. Heading H3T. [Also in Division G4] A lamp failure warning circuit comprises a plurality of series circuits each including a resistor 13, 13a . . ., and a lamp 14, 14a . . ., e.g. the lamps on a road vehicle, the junction of the resistor and lamp in each circuit being connected to operate warning apparatus in the event of any one of the lamps failing. When a lamp fails, its respective diode 16, 16a . . . conducts to switch off transistor 17 and hence switch on transistor 22 and illuminate warning light 23. Further means may be provided, as shown, to indicate failure of the warning light: the currents provided to warning light 23 and further light 23a through 24, 25 and 24a, 25a are normally insufficient to illuminate the lights, but should one of these lights fail, the associated diode 27 or 27a conducts to switch off transistor 17 and switch on transistor 22 and thus illuminate whichever of lamps 23, 23a is still intact. The circuit of Fig. 3 (not shown) is modified to monitor the stop lights, in addition to the other lights, of the vehicle.
