Abstract

1,195,574. Vehicle rear view mirrors. SOC. COMMERCIALE DU COMPTOIR DES INVENTIONS PRATIQUES POUR L'AUTOMOBILE. 27 July, 1967 [10 Aug., 1966], No. 34686/67. Heading B7J. A vehicle rear-view mirror (e.g. for use when towing caravans behind ears) comprises a support arm in two releasably connected portions 2a, 2b, and an extension 14 which may be connected therebetween, the ends of the extension being complementary with the ends of the portions 2a, 2b. A cranked vibration-damping strut 16 is adjustably screwed to the extension 14 and carries a nut adjuster 17 engageable with a vehicle surface. The arm portion 2b is resiliently held (as also described and shown in Specification 1,195,575 in a base securable to the vehicle so as to be deflectable on impact, and to swing back, by means of a link 4 and rod 5 acted on at 5a by a helical compression spring 6.
