Abstract
1,195,510. Evaporators, film-type. CHEMIEFASERKOMBINAT WILHEM-PIECKSTADT GUBEN, VEB. 7 Oct., 1968, No. 47462/68. Heading BIB. Viscous material is separated from a multicomponent mixture by metering it through nozzles 3 onto the upper surface of a heated roller 1 rotating on a horizontal axis in a heated chamber 7 whereby a film of mixture is formed on the roller and the volatile components are evaporated, leaving the viscous material on the roller. The roller surface is maintained at a lower temperature than the chamber itself. The viscous material is removed from the roller by adjustable shearing knives 4, and is discharged from the chamber by heated worm screw 5. The vapours of .the volatile components are withdrawn from. the casing through pipe 8, which may be connected to suction means. Heated steam or inert gas may be introduced into the chamber through pipe 9. The mixture to be separated is metered to the feed nozzles 3 by gear pumps 2 to provide a film of given thickness on the roller surface. The distance between the nozzles and the surface of the roller may be adjusted. Chamber 7 is heated by steam, or a vaporous organic heating medium introduced through pipes 10. Roller 1 is hollow and is heated by steam or some other heating medium.
