Abstract

1,194,765. Continuous casting. SOUTHWIRE CO. 25 April, 1968 [27 April, 1967], No. 19679/68. Heading B3F. In a grooved-wheel-and-band type of casting machine, a ring 20 having the mould groove G and cooling ribs 22 is clamped between two annular flanged members 18, 21 by nuts and bolts (31) which unite them; one member 18 has a bevelled surface 34, which co-operates with a complementary surface 16 on an annular projection 15 on a disc plate 14 on which the assembly of annular members 18, 20, 21 is supported by bolts 36 screwed into the edge of the plate 14 to attach the member 18. The plate 14 is mounted on an axle (A) by which the wheel is rotated. The co-acting surfaces 25, 26 of the ring 20 and annular members 18, 21 are complementarily bevelled. Flanges 29 act as splash shields against coolant or melt.
