Abstract

1,194,614. Rotary-scythe mowers. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A.G. 25 July, 1968 [28 July, 1967], No. 35623/68. Heading A1F. Means for adjusting the cutting height of a rotary-scythe mower having one or more cutting elements 7, 8 each of which is rotatably secured on vertical shaft 4 and is supported by a disc 14 mounted on a freely rotatable hub 9, comprises at least one spring-biased detent 12 disposed between the hub 9 and a sleeve 13 attached to the support disc 14, the detent 12 being engageable in one of a number of grooves 15 for adjusting the cutting height. In the embodiment, two detents 12 are provided in diametrically opposite recesses in the hub 9. Spacer discs 17 may be provided between the hub 9 and a shoulder 16 on sleeve 13 to support the weight of the cutting element, the thickness of each spacer disc 17 being equal to the distance between adjacent grooves 15. Each cutting element may comprise a drum 7 and cutters 8, the drum 7 being secured to shaft 4, the drive to shaft 4 being taken from the power take-off shaft of a tractor pulling the mower, via shaft 2 and bevel gear 3.
