Abstract

119,441. Day, D. T., and Day, R. B. Sept. 28, 1917, [Convention date]. Mineral oils, purifying.-Gasoline is purified by bubbling it through sulphuric acid, water and caustic soda in succession. The operation is effected in a series of washing-apparatus 26 containing the reagents, the gasoline being admitted by means of pipes 25 fitted at their lower ends with spray-devices. The gasoline rises to the top and flows away by a pipe 27. The apparatus is used in combination with the plant for cracking oils by spraying into hot products of combustion that is de. scribed in Specification 113,264, [Class 32, Distilling &c.], and with the plant for pre-distilling the crude oil and fractionating and condensing the vapours that is described in Specification 119,440, [Class 32, Distilling &c.].
