Abstract
1,194,325. Pressure sensitive adhesive tapes. ROTUNDA Ltd. 6 Oct., 1967 [13 July, 1966], No. 31505/66. Heading B2E. A pressure-sensitive tape comprises (i) a support based on polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride copolymer containing not less than 70 wt. % vinyl chloride, (ii) an intermediate priming coating containing a postchlorinated polyvinyl chloride and natural rubber or synthetic elastomeric polymer, (iii) a pressuresensitive adhesive coating based on natural rubber or a synthetic elastomeric polymer. The elastomeric ingredient of the pressure-sensitive adhesive may be one or more of natural rubber, polyvinyl ethyl ether, polyisobutyl vinyl ether, polyisoprene, styrene-butadiene copolymer or a polyalkyl acrylate or a copolymer thereof. The elastomeric ingredient of the primer imay 'be natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene, styrene-butadiene copolymer, polyvinyl isobutyl ether, polyvinyl ethyl ether, acrylic polymer or graft natural rubber-methyl methacrylate polymer; in the primer the P.V.C. -elastomer relative proportion may be between 1:4 and 3:1. The coating may be applied from solutions in methyl ethyl ketone and/or toluene.
