Abstract

1481209 Ethylene/vinyl ester/acid copolymers BASF AG 29 Nov 1974 [30 Nov 1973] 51742/74 Heading C3P A copolymer is made by the emulsion polymerization of (a) a vinyl ester 60-90, (b) ethylene 5-25, (c) an ethlenically unsaturated carboxylic acid of 3 to 5 carbon atoms 0À1-10, (d) a hydroxyalkyl acrylate 0À1-10, and optionally (e) (meth)acrylamide up to 5 weight per cent. The preferred copolymer is of ethylene, vinyl acetate, acrylic acid and hydroxypropyl or hydroxybutyl acrylate. The latices may be pigmented and used to coat paper.
