Abstract

119,394. Yoshida, S. Feb. 22, 1918. Moulding wheel tyres.-Relates to the manufacture of automobile tyres by the expansion of a cylindrical tyre body upon an expansible inner mould, and comprises a mould composed of separate portions 5, Figs. 4 and 6, between which, after expansion by a suitable expander 6, accurately-fitting filling-pieces 5' are inserted, the mould being self-supporting apart from the expander. As shown, the parts 5, 5' are shouldered to lock together. After expansion and removal of the expander, the beads are clamped between rings 7, Fig. 8, which are forced together by buckles 8 and secured by clamps 9, and the tyre is then vulcanized.
