Abstract

1,193,882. Wax dispersion. BRITISH DOMESTIC APPLIANCES Ltd. 10 Feb., 1969 [9 Feb., 1968], No. 6527/68. Heading B1V. [Also in Division B5] A release agent for use in moulding foamed plastics materials comprises a dispersion of wax in a liquid medium consisting essentially of water or a chemically inert vegetable oil. The wax may be a mixture of carnauba wax, beeswax and paraffin wax comprising 15-25 wt. % of the dispersion and the liquid medium may be castor oil or water and may contain minor amount of viscosity modifying or emulsifying additives, for example triethanolamine, stearic acid. Specified compositions are (by weight) 3% carnauba wax, 6% beeswax, 9% paraffin wax, 4% stearic acid, 2% triethanolamine and 76% water and also 7.5% carnauba wax, 7.5% (beeswax, 7.5% paraffin wax, 77.5% castor oil and a quantity of air introduced by beating for up to one hour to reduce the viscosity of the castor oil.
