Abstract
1,193,772. Continuous casting. I. PROPERZI. 3 Jan., 1968 [15 March, 1967], No. 420/68. Heading B3F. In the type of machine in which a mould is formed by an edge groove 14 of a wheel 11 and a metal closure band 15, the continuous flow of molten metal 26 into the mould from a tundish 27 is controlled by raising or lowering the tundish so that its spout 28 is adjusted in distance from the solidification front of the metal in the mould to maintain the melt level 29 just below a band-pressing roller 24. An arm 30 supporting the tundish 27 is raised via a worm gear 34, 35 by an electric motor 36. The mould is cooled by water jets 22, 23 as described in Specification 1,014,449.
