1,193,744. Shackles. HARRIS & EDGAR Ltd. 26 Nov., 1968 [27 Feb., 1968], No. 9394/68. Heading F2Q. A lifting shackle comprises a base member 1 having a face to mate with a surface of an article to be lifted and a screw 7 having a tapered portion (e.g. a collar 13 screwed on to a thread 12) the screw and tapered portion being able to enter a corresponding recess in the article to be secured thereto, the screw and base member being connected together (e.g. by a head 9 on the screw) and having pivoted thereto on an axis parallel with the surface (e.g. of pin 3) a loop 6. The pin 3 may have a hole 5 for a split pin and a head 4 at opposite ends. The shank of the screw 7 may be stepped to have a plain part 11 and two threaded parts 12, 14. The shackle may be used for lifting slabs of partly cured concrete.
