Abstract

119,310. Lassell, J. Oct. 22, 1917. Propelling and steering by steam jets. - Propelling pipes 6 and steering pipes 8 are arranged in a ship as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, and in each of these pipes are arranged pairs of forwardly and rearwardly pointing nozzles to which steam is supplied direct from the boiler 4 or as exhaust from the engine 3 through pipes or reservoirs controlled by valves. The system is auxiliary to the main propeller 2.
