Abstract
1,193,031. Air-conditioning units. LUCIANO ROMANELLI. 25 June, 1968 [11 July, 1967], No. 30122/68. Heading F4V. An air heating and cooling apparatus comprises a heating element 1 and an evaporator 4 forming part of a refrigeration circuit and a supply 11 of water which can be selectively connected to the heater or to the refrigeration unit via a by-pass valve 12. The change over is effected by a manually operable crank 16 and linkage 17, 18, 20, the linkage also moving a gate 24 to blank off the heater or the evaporator. In winter the supply 11 is from the usual central hot water system and in summer cold water is circulated through the same system. If a flap (3, Fig. 4) is open at the top of the apparatus warm air will flow into the room by convection, alternatively a fan 9 will produce a forced flow of warm air-or, in winter, of cold air. A thermostat may be provided. In a further embodiment the condenser of the refrigeration circuit is air cooled instead of being connected to the water supply 11.
