Abstract

1,193,009. Two-part couplings. BÍLKOW G.m.b.H. and SOURIAU ELECTRIC G.m.b.H. 24 April, 1968 [29 April, 1967], No. 19388/68. Heading H2E. A socket housing 201 has attached to it a flange 208 which abuts on one side against a concentric member 209 and on the other side against a resilient deformable ring 210, this arrangement allowing small movements of the socket 2 to compensate for lack of alignment with the plug 1. The member 209 is of polytetrafluoroethylene or a material of similar low friction coefficient, so that the flange can slide on the member 209. The ring 210 may be of chlorobutadiene rubber, and by virtue of its resilience allows a slight adjustment of the socket axis relative to the housing 3. A lug 212, attached to the flange 208, fits into a recess 213 in the deformable ring 210, so preventing rotation. A spring 205 provides a yielding contact for the plug 1, which is inserted and held in position by a rack and pinion arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown), contact being made with the resilient contact springs 204. In the absence of the plug, the spring 205 holds the sealing member 206 in position against the sealing lip 207, so preventing the access of unwanted matter. Also when in this position, a metal ring 211 short circuits the contact springs 204.
