916,875. Ball-joints. LANGEN, V. Dec. 30, 1959 [Jan. 13, 1959], No. 44262/59. Class 65 (2). [Also in Group XXVI] A resilient sealing member 4 for a balljoint has an edge portion which seals against the housing 1 and a shoulder surrounding a central opening through which the pin 2 extends, the shoulder having an inner peripheral lip 7 which projects into the central opening, tapes to a pointed inner edge, and is adapted to be distorted upon the introduction of the pin into the opening so that one side face of the lip rests against the pin. The shoulder may have two lips extending in opposite directions, a lubricant recess being formed between the roots of the lips. Alternatively, a lubricant recess may be formed at the root of a single lip which is turned over to close the recess when the pin is inserted.
