Abstract

1,192,581. Diapers. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 12 April, 1967 [20 May, 1966], No. 16733/67. Heading A3V. [Also in Division A5] A diaper comprises a carrier having incorporated in its structure a waterinsoluble cross-linked polyacrylamide which is capable of absorbing at least 15 times its weight of body exudate and in doing so swelling while maintaining its integrity. The polyacrylamide may be in the form of particles, fibres, thin film, or a cellular structure, and may be used in admixture with a cross-linked sulphonated polystyrene. The carrier may be an absorbent mass or pad of material conventionally used in absorbent dressings, e.g. textile fibres, paper.
