Abstract

119,215. Paoletti, E. Feb. 4, 1918. Limbs, artificial.-Relates to the construction of the lower part of a leg from the knee to the foot, adapted for use with the apparatus described in Specification 118,554 for attachment to the stump of the thigh. The knee comprises a spherical cap q carrying a pivot r on the ends of which the hollow leg member s is mounted. The leg is normally held straight by a pivoted hook t engaging a hole u in the upper part of the leg member s, a spring 1 being arranged to bring the parts into and retain them in these positions. When it is desired to bend the knee, the hook t is released by a cord x connected to a slide mounted on the thigh. A clamp 6 is provided for securing an artificial foot or stump to the leg.
